This baseline study contributes to the entrenchment of the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda in Nigeria. Nigeria adopted her first National Action Plan (NAP) on YPS in November 2021, becoming the first country in Africa to do so and the second in the world, after the Republic of Finland.
This study aims to strengthen ongoing efforts to nationalise the YPS agenda in Nigeria, as well as identify entry-points for implementing Nigeria’s first NAP on YPS. To do this, the study examines various policy documents, frameworks, action plans, and laws that are YPS-relevant. Furthermore, diverse literature on YPS enriched the analysis and provided insights to support the implementation of YPS programming in Nigeria.
