We are building the resilience of young men and women\nagainst violent philosophies through policy advocacy, capacity building training,\nresearch and documentation, community sensitization, radio and tv programming\namongst other innovative approaches. BBFORPEACE is currently championing advocacy\nfor the implementation of the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the Internship Position<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December 2015, the UN Security\nCouncil adopted the groundbreaking Resolution 2250, on Youth, Peace and\nSecurity. For the first time, the UN Security Council recognized the positive\nrole young people can play in conflict prevention and peacebuilding. Recall\nthat on 1st November 2021, Nigeria became the first country in Africa to adopt\na National Action Plan on UNSCR 2250. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The overarching goal of the Nigeria Youth 4 Peace Internship is to support activities and interventions around the implementation of the Youth, Peace and Security agenda in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ideal candidate will coordinate programs and projects related to the advocacy and effective implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250, 2419, 2535 and the African Union Continental Framework on Youth, Peace and Security in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Specific Roles<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Initiate and support the coordination of existing youth, peace and security initiatives.<\/li><li>Act as a focal point for the Youth, Peace and Security program (both for external and internal stakeholders).<\/li><li>Map and foster effective collaboration and partnership with peace and security stakeholders in Nigeria and abroad. <\/li><li>Support the development and implementation of an advocacy strategy that reflects members concerns and interests.<\/li><li>Support fundraising and research related activities. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Between 18-35 years<\/li><li>Minimum of a Bachelor\u2019s degree in any social science related course. Possession of a Master\u2019s degree will be an added advantage. <\/li><li>Fluency in written and spoken English.<\/li><li>Willingness to learn and show interest in the peace and security related fields.<\/li><li>Excellent writing, editing and analytical skills and ability to formulate well-targeted documents.<\/li><li>Knowledge of existing frameworks on youth, peace and security, (UNSCR2250, UNSCR2419, UNSCR2535, UNSCR1325, AU Continental Framework on Youth, Peace and Security). <strong>But not mandatory.<\/strong><\/li><li>Good computer skills Microsoft office packages (Google doc, powerpoint and Excel)<\/li><li>\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Working Conditions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The internship is unpaid and only stipends to cover\ntransportation costs within Abuja is provided.
